Aug 07 2008   Anyone got a good stout recipe?

by ravenwolfe | 108 Views | 0 Replies | Print article
Hey y'all!

I'm starting to think about having a go at brewing my first stout.

I'm not planning on brewing it for a couple of months, but being the anal perfectionist that I am, I want to start working on a recipe and gethering ingredients.

So has...
Jul 31 2008   High temp hydrometer readings

by breadnbutter | 331 Views | 15 Replies | Print article
G'day readers,

I've been wondering about these temperature corrections for the hydrometer, particularly since I like to check the SG before and after boiling.  I'm thinking I'm really deluding myself by adjusting a hydrometer reading at 60C+ using a hydrometer...

Will it be ok to use it for my brew on the weekend? I only ask because all the literature says to make the starter and use within 24 hours.......

by breadnbutter | 437 Views | 13 Replies | Print article
G'day readers,

I don't brew as much as I'd like 'cause Sunday's my only day to do it and we're constantly renovating, which often takes priority whip

I've read on another blog somewhere about mashing overnight and continuing in the...

Jul 16 2008   Temperature control for step mashing

by Friar | 506 Views | 12 Replies | Print article
Step Mash

A variable temperature technique

Infusion mashing is the home brewer’s traditional method using an unheated mash tun, resulting in a single temperature mash. In reality, the temperature drops slightly over the mash rest and increases during sparging. Step...
Jul 11 2008   Kegging newbie

by scblack | 642 Views | 16 Replies | Print article

What a happy camper I am. Afro

I have never used a keg before, but I have spoken to Ross a couple of times now, and...
